Recovering quality product while managing water and waste
In aggregates operations focused on sand and gravel, washing or wet processing is required to obtain the highest level of output quality.
As with our dry processing products, we utilise achievements from other industries to provide premium solutions in the wet stage. Proven solutions in this area include slurry pumps, hydrocyclones, knife gate valves, filters and filter presses, screens, attrition scrubbers, clarifiers and thickeners.
Water recovery and responsible discharge are increasingly critical in wash plant operations. Our thickeners and clarifiers support both product quality and environmental compliance.
Recovering saleable sand from waste streams
In an aggregate plant, cyclones are most commonly used to recover saleable sand from a waste stream. Recovering sand from the classifier or sand screw overflow stream can add a significant amount of otherwise wasted material to the product.
In a typical sand recovery system, the sand screw overflow reports to a sump. A pump feeds the overflow to an elastomer-lined cyclone. The cyclone underflow contains the sand — it can be returned to the sand screw about three-quarters of the way up the screw, or stacked as a fine sand product. The cyclone overflow typically reports to the waste pond
Precision sizing, purity and drying for API-grade frac sand
Specialty sand, including frac, production requires tighter tolerances than standard aggregate processing. API specifications govern particle size distribution, crush resistance and turbidity — all of which depend on precise classification, thorough washing and effective drying.
The process typically involves scrubbing (to remove silica coatings), precise wet classification, dewatering and thermal drying to achieve the moisture content required for transport and use. Each stage demands equipment that can maintain consistency at high throughput.
