Turn sulphur dioxide into a solved problem.

Wet flue gas desulfurization scrubbers require reliable separation and pumping equipment across its distinct process stages. With decades of FGD experience, KREBS® is an established leader in supply for coal-fired power generation operations.

Protecting drinking water supply and downstream equipment

Sand, grit and particulate from rivers, lakes, wells or ocean intakes damage downstream filtration and pump equipment, increasing maintenance costs and chemical usage. Our KREBS® DeSanders and hydrocyclone manifolds remove solids efficiently before they reach critical plant equipment.

With no moving parts and a small footprint, our desanding systems deliver low capital cost and predictable maintenance performance. Units mount horizontally or vertically and can be custom-built to ASME code for easy integration into existing or new water treatment infrastructure.

Keeping cooling towers, heat exchangers and scrubbers clean

Solids in cooling tower and heat exchanger circuits build up on heat-transfer surfaces, reduce efficiency and cause corrosion. Our DeSander skids and gMAX® cyclone systems continuously clean recirculating water, protecting equipment and reducing chemical costs.

For gas scrubber and WFGD applications in power generation, our KREBS® gMAX® hydrocyclones handle classification at every stage of the limestone grinding and gypsum dewatering process. Our millMAX-e™ slurry pumps and knife gate valves complete the system for abrasive scrubber effluent handling.

Produced water treatment, deoiling and mud management

Produced water from oil and gas operations carries oil, solids and hydrocarbons that must be removed before reinjection or overboard discharge. Our KREBS® CycloClean® deoiling systems and L40-gMAX® hydrocyclone vessels reduce oil-in-water concentration to levels manageable for downstream polishing equipment.

For drilling mud treatment, our urethane gMAX® cyclones remove cutting solids using desilting (4 in.) and desanding (10 in.) cyclones. The millMAX-e™ pump feeds the system, while our TG knife gate valves handle abrasive slurry without process interruption.

Wash water recycling and food-grade separation

Fruit, vegetable and food processing wash circuits carry sand and grit that contaminates product and damages equipment. Our KREBS® urethane gMAX® cyclones remove solids down to 10 microns, allowing wash water to be recycled and reducing wastewater disposal costs.

Available in food-grade and non-food-grade urethane, 316L stainless steel and AL6XN to meet FDA and food-grade requirements. With no moving parts, they deliver reliable performance in demanding hygienic environments where maintenance access is restricted.

Description

  1. 1

    Intake water and circuit protection

For hydro applications, KREBS® DeSanders remove sediment and grit from intake water and penstock flow, protecting turbine runners. For nuclear applications, KREBS® CP Vessels provide fine particle removal from large-volume cooling water intakes. Our millMAX™ and vMAX™ pumps handle intake and transfer duties where pumping is required.

  2. 2

Limestone grinding classification (Coal-Fired / FGD)

Our KREBS® gMAX® cyclones deliver finer, sharper classification at higher capacities and lower inlet pressure than conventional designs. The D-Series cyclone covers coarser classification duties within the same circuit. The millMAX™ feeds the circuit with consistent pressure and flow throughout the wear life of the pump.

  3. 3

Gypsum dewatering and waste disposal (Coal-Fired / FGD)

The gMAX® cyclones perform dewatering efficiently, with interchangeable parts between the reagent preparation and gypsum dewatering circuits reducing spare parts inventory. In the waste disposal circuit, our slurryMAX™ pump handles underflow transfer, and the millMAX™ feeds the dewatering cyclone circuit throughout.

  4. 4

    Abrasive slurry and large-solids transfer

Our gravelMAX™ large-solids pump features a wider impeller and larger cutwater clearance that prevents solids being ground inside the pump, delivering fewer wear part changes, higher throughput and lower power consumption. The millMAX™ covers dilute cyclone feed and medium duty transfer duties. The slurryMAX™ handles split-case duties across the FGD waste disposal and secondary circuit. The vMAX™ covers vertical sump pumping in hydro, geothermal and nuclear plant sumps and pits.

  5. 5

    Fine particle and scale separation

Our gMAX® hydrocyclones operate at higher capacities and lower inlet pressure than conventional designs. D-Series cyclones cover coarser classification and separation duties across the same circuits. For the finest removal requirementsKREBS® CP Vessels achieve separations down to approximately 10 microns.

  6. 6

    Flow control and isolation

The KREBS® KGA and KGD slurry knife gate valves are built for harsh service in coal-fired FGD, geothermal and nuclear auxiliary applications, with fluorocarbon-coated stainless steel gates, replaceable wear sleeves and actuator options from manual handwheel to fully automated pneumatic and electric operation.
