FLS Solutions

Pulp and paper equipment solutions

Pulp and paper equipment solutions Pulp and paper mills demand equipment that handles fibrous slurries, abrasive contaminants and viscous sludges reliably across every stage of the process. FLS supplies pulp cleaner cyclones, the Dorr-Oliver Gorator, millMAX slurry pumps and more to protect downstream equipment, maximise product quality and keep mills running at full capacity.

Experience you can trust

  • 70+years of equipment expertise

KREBS® has supplied pulp cleaner cyclones to the pulp and paper industry for over seven decades, with proven systems deployed across softwood, hardwood and recycled fibre mills worldwide.

  • 50%more pulp production

FLS’s product efficiency in breaking, deflaking and fiberising gives mills up to 50% more production out of pulpers, reducing total required horsepower days per tonne.

  • 75%maximum solids handled

Our pumps handle slurries containing up to 75% solids, operate indefinitely under dry conditions, and transfer delicate fibrous and sludge streams without seal failure or dilution.

Removing heavy contaminants to protect downstream equipment and improve product quality

Sand, baling wire, packing bands, staples, glass and grit in paper pulp slurries damage screens, headboxes and press felts — reducing machine runnability and paper quality. Our pulp cleaner cyclones quickly remove these heavy contaminants from pulp slurries at consistencies of 0.5–4.5%, protecting downstream equipment and reducing unplanned downtime.

The process

FLS equipment for the pulp and paper process

  1. 1

    Repulping and fibre liberation

The Dorr-Oliver Gorator's inclined rotor and peripheral stator bars deliver a highly efficient shearing action that deflakesfiberises and disperses fibrous materials without cutting fibres — giving mills up to 50% more production from their pulpers.

  2. 2

Pulp slurry transfer and cyclone feed

Our millMAX™ pump features a patented on-line wear clearance adjustment to maintain constant flow and discharge pressure throughout the wear life of the wet end — without increasing speed or risking motor overload.

  3. 3

    Sludge disintegration ahead of dewatering

The Dorr-Oliver Gorator disintegrates sludge and debris efficiently, with infinitely variable discharge slot spacing allowing the user to set the target particle size precisely. In effluent skimming applications, it disintegrates floating chips, bark and debris ahead of their combining with underflow sludge.

  4. 4

    Stock cleaning and contaminant removal

KREBS® pulp cleaner cyclones efficiently separate these heavy particles from pulp slurries at consistencies of 0.5–4.5%, with sectionalised construction for lower maintenance costs and replaceable nihard and ceramic liners in high-wear sections.
