Throughout the world, ABON® Sizers have been commissioned in primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary applications across the minerals range — from low and medium tonnage operations to in-pit crushing systems running at more than 12,000 tph. Over 650 units are installed across 32+ countries, covering iron ore, overburden, bauxite, limestone and cement, coal, nickel laterite, phosphate, niobium, carbon and bath/cryolite recycling.
The ABON® Sizer combines low roll speed, high torque and FLS’ unique tooth profiles to produce a specified top-size product with minimum fines generation. Feed material — ROM or pre-screened — is accepted through the top of the crushing chamber and drawn into rotating shafts laced with teeth configured for the specified product size. Undersize material free-falls through the unit with little or no further size reduction, protecting downstream recovery and reducing the energy needed to process each tonne.
The FLS RollSizer is the ideal solution for primary, secondary and tertiary crushing of medium-hard as well as sticky and soft materials. From wear and energy saving operation to optimised product, this mining sizer consistently delivers quality and performance. Simply put, it is the ideal machine for the primary, secondary and tertiary crushing stages.
In the primary crusher, a conveyable product (<300 mm) can be produced from the raw materials with a maximum edge length of 2.0 m in one-step. In the following crushing stages, the required target grain size can be produced in the secondary or tertiary sizer.

Worn teeth, spacers and shafts from ABON® Sizer refurbishments are recoverable and recyclable. Steel offcuts and machine turnings from manufacturing are recovered and recycled — supporting a more sustainable materials cycle across the asset lifecycle.

In centre-sizing ABON® Sizers, the rolls rotate inward toward the centre of the chamber. The combination of aggressively shaped teeth, low roll speed and high torque grips and processes large feed lumps — including ROM material up to 1,600 mm — and reduces it to the specified product size through the controlled void formed between the rolls. Centre sizing is the standard configuration for primary duty across iron ore, overburden, coal, bauxite, nickel laterite and cement applications, and is the platform for the largest units in the ABON® range, up to 14,000 tph.
In side-sizing ABON® Sizers, the rolls rotate outward against the chamber sidewalls, which are fitted with replaceable wear plates. The product top size is set by the geometry of the teeth, the spacer arrangement and the gap to the sidewall. Side sizing is the standard configuration for secondary and tertiary duties where a finer, tightly controlled top-size product is required at high throughput — for example in coal preparation circuits and ahead of downstream classification screens, grinding mills, and scrubbers.
