Online analysis

Quick and accurate online mineral slurry analysis

Good-quality slurry analysis is a foundational requirement for mineral processing plants. It requires a slurry sampling system that is both accurate and can be configured to your operation. In other words, it requires a PERI online slurry analysis system.

Key benefits of online analysis

  • Fast analysis of multiple streams

Our online analysers feature a high-rate detector providing quick and highly accurate analysis of low concentrations of slurry. Our systems can also analyse up to six streams with a single multiplexer – or easily double the workload by adding a second multiplexer.

  • Low cost of ownership

Designed for maximum performance and minimal maintenance, PERI online slurry analysers offer a lower cost of ownership. The x-ray tube operates well below rated power for maximum life while the high-rate silicon drift detector offers high resolution, high performance, and long life. Element channels are freely configurable to your needs with no hidden cost for later changing or addition of channels. Sample windows are easily replaceable, the stainless-steel enclosure resists corrosion and can be easily washed down, and the thermoelectric cooling system needs only minimal maintenance.

  • Advanced technology

The system uses a solid-state energy dispersive x-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) detector to provide accurate, reliable, and cost-efficient information for plant control. The unit does not require liquid nitrogen for detector cooling. It incorporates a low-power x-ray tube, which means no radioisotopes are required.

Our online analysers

The PERI online slurry analysis system provides elemental concentrations for various process streams, from tailings to matte, effectively replacing all other analysers. Used successfully in base metal concentrators like copper, lead-zinc, and molybdenum plants, these analysers can process an unlimited number of elements per stream and provide detection and warning of sample flow problems. Measuring times typically range from 15 to 90 seconds. We offer a full line of primary and secondary slurry samplers, sample handling equipment, and accessories for our PERI online slurry analysis system. These include a range of Essa® slurry samplers, multiplexers, composite samplers, calibration samplers, de-multiplexers and vacuum batch filters.

Maintenance & Service of our online analysers

We have been supplying slurry sampling and analysis systems to the mining industry for decades. When you choose FLS to supply your sampling system, you don’t just get a sampler; you get access to those decades of sampling experience. This allows us to offer unparalleled support, from initial sampler design and selection to onsite supervision of installation, commissioning, and calibration. We also train your personnel in our systems and our follow-up site visits ensure samplers are property maintained and integrated. Remote off-site support is also available.

Frequently asked questions

FAQs for online analysis

Online slurry analysis involves real-time, continuous monitoring or slurry streams to determine elemental composition and concentration of materials being processed. The technologies play a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of mineral processing operations.

PERI online slurry analysis systems work by exciting slurry samples using solid-state energy dispersive x-ray fluorescence. Detectors capture the signals emitted from the excited elements, which are then analysed to determine their concentrations.

The benefits of online slurry analysis include improved product quality, enhanced recovery rates, fast and cost-effective analysis, and better control over processing operations.
