FAQs for mineral sampling and online analysis

Mineral sampling is the process of collecting a representative portion of a dry bulk material or slurry. These samples are prepared and analysed in a mining laboratory to provide essential data on material composition and characteristics, which are then used for quality control and process optimisation.

The key principles of mineral sampling are representativeness, sample mass, sampling protocol, repeatability and accuracy, and error management. Our sampling equipment uses the fundamental principles laid down in Gy’s Theory of Sampling, enhanced by our industry-specific experience, to ensure your sample collection system meets international standards in these areas.

There are two main types of sampling required in mining and mineral processing: dry bulk sampling and slurry sampling.

Online analysis involves real-time monitoring and analysis of a material. The process uses sensors and automated systems to continuously measure the composition and properties of minerals within a slurry or bulk material stream.
