Upgrades, rebuilds and exchange

Improve slurry pump performance with pump upgrades from FLS

Streamline pump maintenance and increase operational efficiency with upgrades from KREBS®. With a focus on reducing downtime, our KREBS® Quick Release system ensures safer, faster, and more reliable service, while our pump rebuilds extend service life and save you money.

Key benefits of upgrades, rebuilds and exchange services for pumps

  • Reduced downtime enables greater productivity

Our Quick Release system significantly cuts the time needed for maintenance tasks, such as wet-end replacements and belt adjustments. This leads to faster turnarounds and increased uptime for your operations.

  • Improved safety

Our upgrades are designed with safety in mind. The Quick Release system enables safer wet-end module rebuilds, reducing potential hazards.

  • Extended equipment life

By ensuring proper alignment and tension of belts and reducing wear and tear on critical pump components, these upgrades help prolong the lifespan of the equipment, saving costs on frequent replacements and minimising the risk of component failure.

KREBS Quick Release

KREBS Quick Release

The KREBS Quick Release™ system is designed to significantly reduce maintenance downtime for large slurry pumps, like the millMAX™, slurryMAX™-XD and UMD™.

The system focuses on replacing the wet end of the pump quickly and safely, minimising the time spent on pump maintenance and repair.

Quick, safe and efficient rebuilds

Like a pit stop in a race, this system allows operators to quickly swap out worn components for rebuilt ones. This means less time spent on maintenance, reducing downtime by up to 50%.

Instead of performing time-consuming repairs on-site, the wet end can be rebuilt during normal working hours in a safe environment, minimising operational hazards.

For added flexibility, there is an option to use off-site maintenance with a wet end module exchange programme, allowing operators to replace worn modules with rebuilt ones provided by the supplier.

The upgrade includes several components that ensure quick and efficient rebuilds:

  • Quick release shaft: Enables rapid disconnection and replacement.
  • Impeller support and strut: These parts help secure and stabilise the components during rebuilds.
  • Optional lifting assembly and rebuild pedestal: These make it easier to lift and rebuild the pump modules, making the process safer and quicker.

This system is designed specifically for large pumps dealing with abrasive slurries, which typically experience high wear and tear. By simplifying the process of swapping out worn parts, the KREBS Quick Release™ system helps improve the overall productivity and safety of mining operations.

Reduce waste with pump upgrades and rebuilds

KREBS® pump upgrades support sustainability by reducing the need for frequent replacements, minimising waste, and lowering energy consumption. The Quick Release™ system allows for faster, safer rebuilds, extending equipment life and reducing resource usage. Rebuild services bring worn components back to as-new condition using OEM-approved workshops and KREBS® drawings. Work can be carried out on site or ship your part to FLS for refurbishment.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about pump upgrades and rebuilds

The lifespan of slurry pumps can vary widely based on factors like operating conditions, material selection, and maintenance practices. On average, slurry pumps last between 2 to 5 years, but in harsh conditions with abrasive materials, this can be shorter, requiring frequent repairs or parts replacement. High-quality maintenance, proper material choices (such as wear-resistant components), and upgrades like the KREBS® Quick Release™ system can extend the pump's life by ensuring optimal performance and reducing wear and tear.

Regular inspection, correct alignment, and managing slurry properties also contribute significantly to longer pump life.
